Persistent cloud cover, elevated humidity, and above-normal rainfall—Central Park recorded over 8 inches for the month through August 23—suppressed daytime heating below the 82.3°F climatological average and prevented any late-summer heat surge. Model guidance and real-time surface data converged on this range well ahead of resolution, allowing traders to assign near-certain probability. Minor station-to-station differences from urban heat-island effects or measurement timing remain the only realistic variables that could shift the final certified Central Park value outside the dominant bin.
