Flavio Bolsonaro holds an overwhelming lead in trader pricing for first place in Rio de Janeiro during the October 4 first-round vote, reflecting his position as the sitting senator from the state, the Liberal Party nominee, and the endorsed successor to his father Jair Bolsonaro’s political base in the region. Recent campaign activities, including an August launch rally in Copacabana, have reinforced local consolidation among right-leaning voters ahead of the national contest against incumbent President Lula. National polls show a tighter race overall, but Rio’s distinct electoral dynamics—rooted in prior Bolsonaro family performance and limited inroads by other contenders—drive the market’s assessment of a strong regional advantage. Lula registers lower implied probability locally despite stronger national standing, while fringe candidates remain marginal.
