Flavio Bolsonaro's position as the Liberal Party nominee and sitting senator from Rio de Janeiro anchors trader consensus for first place in the state's first-round presidential vote. Local polls conducted in July and August 2026, including Datafolha and Quaest surveys of Rio voters, show him leading or tied with incumbent President Lula within the margin of error, with Flavio often at 32-41% and Lula at 30-37%. This regional edge reflects Flavio's established voter base in a state where his father previously performed strongly, contrasting with national aggregates where Lula maintains a broader lead. Other candidates such as Ronaldo Caiado, Romeu Zema, and Renan Santos register in single digits or lower in Rio-specific testing. With the first round scheduled for October 4, 2026, these state-level results and Flavio's home-state incumbency remain the primary drivers of current implied probabilities.
