**Kosovo’s next president must secure at least 80 votes in the 120-seat Assembly, a threshold that has repeatedly produced deadlock and snap parliamentary elections.** Vjosa Osmani’s term ended on 4 April 2026 without a successor after Vetëvendosje declined to back her re-election bid and opposition parties boycotted sessions. June 2026 elections left Vetëvendosje as the largest party but short of a governing or presidential majority, leaving the new Assembly unconstituted into late August. Recent talks between Albin Kurti and Lumir Abdixhiku have shifted from principles to concrete names, with Vetëvendosje expressing optimism that a consensus candidate can be agreed before the early-October deadline. Multiple figures, including Feride Rushiti, Hatixhe Hoxha, and external suggestions such as Faton Bislimi, remain in circulation while no candidate has yet demonstrated the cross-party support required. The tight market reflects this ongoing negotiation process and the constitutional risk of further elections if agreement is not reached.

This market will resolve to the next individual who begins a full, non-acting term as President of Kosovo after April 4, 2026.
To count for resolution, the individual must be elected President by the Assembly of Kosovo and take the presidential oath before the Assembly. Serving as acting, interim, or caretaker President alone will not count toward the resolution of this market, regardless of any change in who exercises those duties.
If no such President takes office by April 30, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to "Other".
The primary resolution sources for this market will be official information from the Assembly of Kosovo and the Office of the President of Kosovo; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.
