Darijana Filipović holds a strong lead in trader assessments for the Croat seat in Bosnia and Herzegovina’s collective presidency ahead of the October 4 general election, reflecting her nomination by HDZ BiH and a broad coalition of aligned parties. This positioning stems from the party’s established organizational reach among Croat voters in the Federation and endorsements that include support from Croatian officials. Slaven Kovačević, backed by the Democratic Front as successor to the ineligible Željko Komšić, trails amid concerns over reliance on cross-ethnic voting patterns that have previously drawn opposition from Croat parties. Zdenko Lučić, the candidate of five smaller opposition Croat parties, registers minimal market support due to the fragmented field that risks splitting the core Croat electorate. Filipović’s late-August meetings with U.S. officials on electoral reform and Dayton framework issues have reinforced perceptions of her viability without altering the underlying party-structure dynamics.
