**Recent statewide polling in Sachsen-Anhalt shows the SPD holding a narrow but consistent lead over the BSW ahead of the September 6 Landtag election.** Multiple surveys from July and August 2026, including those by INSA, Infratest dimap, and pollytix, place the SPD at 5–7% and the BSW at 4–5%, with the SPD ahead in every major release. The BSW, contesting its first state election with co-lead candidates Claudia Wittig and Thomas Schulze, has not matched its stronger 2025 Bundestag performance in the state. Both parties sit near the 5% threshold amid a campaign dominated by larger forces such as the AfD and CDU. Traders have aligned with this polling trend, assigning the SPD a high implied probability of finishing ahead on election night. No late shifts have altered the relative positioning in the final stretch.
