Recent July 2026 Eurozone headline inflation at 2.9%, up from 2.8% in June and driven by energy prices surging to 10% amid renewed US-Iran tensions, has reinforced trader expectations for a 2026 average above 3.1%. The ECB’s June staff projections already lifted the 2026 forecast to 3.0% due to higher energy paths feeding into services and goods, while the July SPF trimmed this only modestly to 2.7% after partial de-escalation. Core inflation also firmed to 2.5%, signaling broader pressures. With the next HICP release and ECB policy meeting approaching, markets price in sustained elevation above target rather than rapid convergence, consistent with the 66.3% implied probability on the 3.1%+ bucket.
