Recent July CPI data showed China's annual inflation easing to 0.5%, below consensus forecasts, driven by declining food prices (especially pork amid ample supply and soft consumption) and slower non-food gains as energy costs moderated following reduced Middle East supply strains and domestic fuel adjustments. Core inflation held near 0.9%, indicating steady but subdued underlying demand, particularly in services. With August figures still pending and seasonal factors or policy support for exports potentially providing mild offsets, traders see balanced risks of the rate holding in the 0.5-0.6% band or edging toward 0.7-0.8%. Weak domestic consumption and global commodity trends continue to anchor expectations near recent lows, though any rebound in energy or housing components could shift positioning before the September release.
