Recent July ISM Manufacturing PMI strength at 55.6, the highest since May 2022 and well above consensus, anchors expectations for August around the mid-55 range amid seven straight months of expansion. Traders price the closely contested 54.0–56.9 bands highest because production surged to 58.5, new orders held at 56.7, and employment returned to growth at 52.8, yet elevated prices paid near 71, tariff pressures, and Middle East supply-chain strains signal potential moderation ahead of the September 1 release. Market-implied odds embed this uncertainty, balancing resilient domestic demand and inventory rebuilding against risks of slower new orders or supplier delivery delays, consistent with S&P Global flash estimates near 53.8–53.9.
