Recent July 2026 ISM Manufacturing PMI strength at 55.6—the highest since May 2022—anchors trader positioning for the August release, with the 55.0–55.9 range commanding 41.5% implied probability as the consensus outcome. Accelerated production (58.5), sustained new orders (56.7), and employment crossing into expansion (52.8) reflect broad-based momentum from AI-related capital spending, low customer inventories prompting restocking, and front-loading ahead of tariffs, though elevated prices near 71 and lengthening supplier deliveries introduce downside risks. Market-implied odds embed moderation from July’s pace while pricing in continued expansion above the 50 threshold, with the September 1 release serving as the immediate catalyst amid parallel data on S&P Global PMI and labor-market indicators.
