Recent Bank of Korea data and policy moves shape trader views on South Korea's 2026 annual inflation, with July headline CPI easing to 2.8% year-over-year from 3.2% in June while core inflation climbed to 2.6%, its highest since late 2023. The central bank's August 27 decision to raise the benchmark rate by 25 basis points to 3%—its second consecutive hike—reflects concerns that elevated cost pressures from Middle East tensions and strengthening demand-side forces will keep inflation above the 2% target for an extended period. The BOK held its 2026 consumer price forecast at 2.7% but lifted the core projection to 2.5% and revised GDP growth upward to 3.3%, citing robust semiconductor exports. These developments sustain a tight contest among the 2.7-2.9%, 3.0%+, and 2.4-2.6% ranges, as traders weigh persistent energy and services price risks against the impact of tighter monetary policy.
