Guinea-Bissau’s 6 December 2026 legislative election occurs amid a fragile post-coup transition under military authorities, with a 30 August constitutional referendum on shifting to a stronger presidential system still pending. This institutional uncertainty, combined with the country’s history of dissolved parliaments, contested results, and frequent realignments among small parties, keeps the contest fragmented under list proportional representation for 102 seats. Platforma Republicana “Nô Kumpu Guiné” and FREPASNA lead trader pricing because each draws from prior coalitions and military-era networks, yet neither has secured a decisive advantage. Further separation will likely hinge on referendum outcomes, new alliances, candidate confirmations, or ECOWAS-mediated steps that clarify the rules and power-sharing arrangements before voting.
