This market will resolve to “Yes” if a snap election is called in Greece by December 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to “No.” The calling of a snap election requires the formal dissolution of the Hellenic Parliament or another formal scheduling, according to the rules of the jurisdiction, of an election for all members of the Hellenic Parliament within 30 days thereafter. The resolution source for this market will be official information from the government of Greece; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.**Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis has repeatedly and explicitly ruled out a snap election, stating multiple times through mid-2026 that the government will complete its full term with the next parliamentary vote scheduled for spring 2027.** This messaging aligns with preparations for Greece’s EU Council presidency beginning in July 2027 and planned 2026 fiscal measures such as tax relief. Recent polls (August 2026) show New Democracy leading at 26–30% with a 12-point margin over Alexis Tsipras’s ELAS party, sufficient to maintain stability without forcing an early contest despite some public preference (around 51%) for sooner voting. No parliamentary dissolution or formal scheduling has occurred, and internal party discussions from June about an autumn vote have not advanced amid consistent government denials. Traders price the “No” outcome at 81% because the prime minister’s public commitments, combined with the absence of acute political or institutional triggers, outweigh fragmented opposition dynamics and ongoing speculation. A late reversal would require a major shift in parliamentary arithmetic or unforeseen crisis before year-end.
