This market will resolve to “Yes” if the listed Designated Contract Market (DCM) self-certifies sports-related event-based contracts with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) between market creation and December 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to “No”. The primary resolution source will be official information released by the CFTC or the respective DCM; however, a consensus of credible reporting will also be used.CFTC advisories from March and July 2026 tightened self-certification procedures under Regulation 40.2 for event contract series, requiring DCMs to submit detailed compliance analyses, specific settlement methodologies, and references to prior certified contracts rather than broad templates. This guidance, alongside federal preemption gains in state litigation and agency restraint on blocking sports contracts, has lowered barriers for compliant filings while raising the bar for manipulation-risk reviews and league engagement. Platforms with established sports offerings, such as Kalshi and Polymarket US, have continued targeted self-certifications, while larger DCMs like CME maintain precedent through earlier swaps listings. Trader sentiment reflects these clarified pathways, tempered by upcoming rulemakings and the need for precise per-contract documentation before year-end.
