This market will resolve to “Yes” if Miguel Díaz-Canel ceases to be President of Cuba for any period of time between market creation and the specified date (ET). Otherwise, this market will resolve to “No”. An announcement of Miguel Díaz-Canel's resignation/removal before this market's end date will immediately resolve this market to "Yes", regardless of when the announced resignation/removal goes into effect. If the specified individual is detained, effectively removed from the specified position, or otherwise permanently prevented from fulfilling the duties of the specified position within this market’s timeframe, it will qualify for a “Yes” resolution. The resolution source for this market will be official information from Miguel Díaz-Canel and the government of Cuba; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.**Miguel Díaz-Canel remains Cuba’s president and Communist Party first secretary as of late August 2026, actively directing economic reform implementation amid acute shortages and blackouts.** Official proceedings show him chairing Council of Ministers sessions, National Assembly debates, and provincial visits focused on food production, energy infrastructure repairs, and private-sector integration to address distortions. US sanctions targeting him and associates, plus an energy blockade, have intensified external pressure, prompting limited bilateral talks framed around reciprocity and sovereignty. Internal dynamics center on party-guided continuity, with Raúl Castro’s institutional influence still evident and no verified leadership transition underway. Speculation about successors or resignation circulates in opposition reporting but lacks confirmation from primary Cuban sources. The centralized political structure and absence of scheduled elections or no-confidence mechanisms within the resolution window limit near-term removal pathways, though sustained economic deterioration or external diplomatic shifts could alter consensus on timing.
