This market will resolve according to the winner of the Democratic Primary for Governor of Rhode Island, scheduled to take place on September 8, 2026. Resolution will be based on the overall winner of the primary, including any potential second round or run-off. If no 2026 Rhode Island Gubernatorial Democratic Primary takes place, this market will resolve to “Other.” The resolution source for this market will be the first official announcement of the results from the Rhode Island Democratic Party; however, an overwhelming consensus of credible reporting may suffice.Helena Foulkes holds a commanding lead in Rhode Island’s Democratic gubernatorial primary, scheduled for September 9, with early voting underway. Multiple recent polls, including a mid-August survey showing her at 48% to incumbent Dan McKee’s 28% among likely primary voters, have consistently placed Foulkes ahead by roughly 20 points since spring. McKee’s low favorability and job approval ratings among Democratic voters, combined with Foulkes securing endorsements from a majority of local Democratic city and town committees—including in McKee’s hometown—have reinforced her position. McKee also fell short of a state party endorsement at the June convention. Minor candidates such as Gregory Stevens register negligible support. With limited time remaining, a decisive shift would require substantial movement among undecided voters or unexpected late developments before ballots are cast.
