This market will resolve to "Yes" if there have been the specified amount or more confirmed cases of Measles (Rubeola) in humans in the territory of the United States of America in 2026, according to the CDC case counter by September 30, 2026, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". The resolution source for this market will be the CDC Measles (Rubeola) counter 'Total Cases' in 2026 (see: https://www.cdc.gov/measles/data-research/index.html) at the resolution time. If the counter becomes unavailable, another credible source will be used. Note: Only cases reported by the CDC Measles (Rubeola) counter will qualify, regardless of reports from U.S. State agencies or other sources.**Sustained measles transmission driven by declining MMR vaccination coverage continues to push 2026 U.S. case counts far above historical norms.** As of August 20, the CDC reported 2,777 confirmed cases across 47 jurisdictions, with 94% linked to 36 outbreaks (many persisting from 2025) and 94% occurring in unvaccinated or unknown-status individuals. Recent weekly additions reached 211 cases, concentrated in hotspots like Pennsylvania and Ohio, alongside the first 2026 deaths in Pennsylvania. Primary factors include sub-95% kindergarten MMR rates in multiple states and ongoing local chains of the highly contagious virus. CDC weekly updates through late September, plus any school-year surveillance spikes, will determine the final tally before the September 30 resolution. Trader consensus reflects the strong upward trajectory from current official counts and transmission patterns.
