As of late August 2026, full IAEA access to damaged or storage sites remains contested, with Iran conditioning broader inspections on completion of a final deal and sanctions steps, while the agency continues limited verification elsewhere. IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi stated on August 27 that there is no solid evidence of active rebuilding at struck facilities, though the status of the approximately 440 kg of 60% enriched uranium stockpile requires further confirmation. Ongoing diplomatic talks, potential extensions, and verification timelines continue to shape prospects for any agreement on surrendering or disposing of the material.
