This market will resolve based on the countries that officially recognize Palestine as a state by December 31, 2026, 11:59pm ET. An announcement of intentions will not suffice to resolve this market to "Yes." Only a government's formal recognition of the State of Palestine will count toward a “Yes” resolution for this market. The primary resolution source for this market will be official government information. However, a consensus of credible reporting will also be used.Several Western governments coordinated recognitions of the State of Palestine during the September 2025 UN General Assembly session, including the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, France, and smaller European states such as Luxembourg, Malta, and Andorra, bringing the total to approximately 157 of 193 UN members. These moves formed part of France- and Saudi Arabia-led efforts tied to the New York Declaration on a two-state solution, often conditioned on Palestinian Authority reforms, elections, hostage releases, and exclusion of Hamas from governance. Remaining non-recognizing states include the United States, Germany, Italy, Japan, and South Korea, which continue to tie formal steps to negotiated outcomes or Israeli security concerns. Diplomatic activity through 2026 will likely focus on any further coordinated announcements ahead of scheduled UN meetings or bilateral shifts, with trader attention centered on whether additional G7 or EU holdouts alter course before the 2027 cutoff.
