This market will resolve to "Yes" if Donald Trump publicly and unequivocally announces that he is removing Lisa Cook as a member of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors, or takes formal action toward doing so, such as issuing a directive or formal request, between market creation and the listed date, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to “No”. Statements which are contingent (e.g. “Cook must step down”), statements of intent (e.g.“I am planning to fire Cook) or other informal statements which are not unequivocal will not qualify. If Lisa Cook resigns or otherwise formally departs her role as a member of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors prior to a qualifying action, this market will immediately resolve to "No". The resolution source will be official information from Donald Trump; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used. **President Trump restarted formal proceedings in early August 2026 to remove Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook, citing mortgage fraud allegations first raised in 2025.** The White House letter dated August 5 provided the notice and response opportunity required by the Supreme Court’s June 29, 2026, 5-4 ruling, which blocked an earlier attempt because Cook had not received due process before any termination. Cook’s 14-year term runs through 2038, and the Federal Reserve Act permits removal only “for cause.” The new letter gives her until August 26, 2026, to respond; her attorney has stated there is no valid cause and pledged to contest any action in court to preserve Fed independence. No criminal charges have been filed. This procedural restart, following the initial August 2025 Truth Social announcement and subsequent litigation, shapes trader assessments of timelines and legal hurdles around any further removal effort.
