The move came amid parliamentary standards scrutiny over undeclared gifts, including a £5 million donation, though the probe paused during the vacancy and resumed after his return. Reform continues to lead or place near the top of national opinion polls, with Farage’s profile central to the party’s growth in membership, councillors, and local control. Recent internal tensions, including donor and personnel issues, have surfaced alongside polling softness, but no formal leadership challenge or resignation signals have emerged. Scheduled events such as ongoing standards inquiries or party conferences could influence sentiment on whether he stays through the next general election cycle.
