**Flavio Bolsonaro leads trader pricing for first place in Rio Grande do Sul’s October 4 first-round presidential vote at 61.5 percent, reflecting the state’s consistent right-leaning tilt and strong regional support for the Liberal Party nominee.** Recent Genial/Quaest polling in southern states, including Rio Grande do Sul, showed him ahead of President Lula by wide margins in head-to-head scenarios, consistent with historical patterns of conservative strength in the region. National surveys place Lula ahead overall, yet the Bolsonaro family brand—bolstered by Jair Bolsonaro’s endorsement and Flávio’s July party convention nomination—has consolidated right-wing voters in the South ahead of the campaign’s formal start. Minor candidates such as Ronaldo Caiado, Romeu Zema, and Renan Santos register low single digits or less in both national and state-level data, leaving limited room for fragmentation. Upcoming debates and final voter mobilization in the state’s key municipalities could still influence first-round margins.
