Magdalena Andersson's commanding 90.5% implied probability stems from consistent polling leads for her Social Democrats and the broader centre-left bloc ahead of the September 13 parliamentary election. Recent surveys show the opposition at roughly 51-54% support versus 44-47% for Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson's Tidö coalition, a margin that has held through the summer campaign focused on cost of living, healthcare, crime, and security. The Centre Party has publicly backed Andersson as its preferred prime ministerial candidate, while coalition strains—including weak Liberal polling and Sweden Democrat demands for greater cabinet roles—have weighed on Kristersson. Late-campaign developments such as a school attack prompted cross-party pauses but left the structural advantage intact. A sudden polling reversal or post-election coalition impasse could still alter the outcome, though the current trader consensus aligns with an Andersson-led government formation.
