Recent political realignments have strengthened the Bangsamoro Federalist Party (BFP) ahead of the September 14, 2026, parliamentary vote, which will fill 40 party-list seats alongside 32 district and eight sectoral seats under the Bangsamoro Organic Law. Interim Chief Minister Abdulraof Macacua’s move to chair the BFP, combined with multiple defections from the United Bangsamoro Justice Party (UBJP), has shifted momentum toward BFP candidates who already hold unopposed district wins. The UBJP, historically tied to Moro Islamic Liberation Front structures, retains significant base support but faces organizational strain. Heightened security measures address clan-related incidents and an August ambush on Macacua, yet the contest remains fluid as smaller accredited parties compete for proportional representation in a closely balanced field.
