UPND secured a commanding position in Zambia’s National Assembly contest through decisive voter support in the August 13, 2026 general election, building on its incumbency advantages, broad candidate field, and unopposed seats in multiple constituencies. Official tallies show the party on track for a clear majority of seats, consistent with Hakainde Hichilema’s presidential victory above the 50 percent threshold. Fragmented opposition, including NRPUP, and limited coordination among smaller parties further consolidated UPND’s edge. Trader consensus at 99.2 percent reflects these verified parliamentary outcomes. Remaining declarations or procedural disputes could still affect final seat totals, though any reversal of the overall result appears highly improbable given current margins and institutional processes.
