The 2026 Winnipeg mayoral election is currently scheduled to be held on October 28, 2026. This market will resolve according to the candidate who becomes the next mayor of Winnipeg as a result of this election. Temporary, interim, or placeholder mayors appointed before the election will not be considered. If the result of this election isn't known by June 30, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, the market will resolve to "Other". The primary resolution source for this market will be a consensus of credible reporting; however, if there is any ambiguity in the results, this market will resolve according to official information from Winnipeg.**Scott Gillingham**, the incumbent Winnipeg mayor first elected in 2022, leads the 2026 mayoral race at 73% in current trader consensus, reflecting his established name recognition and record of advancing housing starts, transit network changes, and infrastructure projects ahead of the October 28 election. A crowded field of more than a dozen registered challengers—including repeat candidates such as Don Woodstock, Michael Vogiatzakis, and Johnny Calderon, along with political novices like Mazher Alam, Umar Hayat, and Zachary Uminski—remains fragmented, with most lacking prior elected experience or significant public profile. A June 2026 Probe Research poll indicated notable voter dissatisfaction with Gillingham’s handling of homelessness, addictions, and crime, yet no opponent has emerged with broad support or momentum to consolidate opposition votes. Candidate registration closes September 22, and active campaigning has remained limited through the summer months. Trader positioning appears driven primarily by the structural advantages of incumbency in a low-visibility municipal contest with a split opposition.
