United Russia maintains its commanding position in the September 18–20 State Duma elections due to its status as the ruling party aligned with President Vladimir Putin, combined with structural advantages in Russia's mixed electoral system of proportional representation and single-member districts. Recent developments include the party's August congress, where delegates approved a "People's Program" emphasizing social measures such as minimum wage increases and infrastructure upgrades, alongside Putin's public endorsement framing the vote as a test of national resilience. Other registered parties, including LDPR, KPRF, and New People, participate as systemic options, while Yabloko's federal list was removed following a Supreme Court ruling. Polling from sources like WCIOM and FOM shows United Russia leading by wide margins, and its nominations across all districts plus inclusion of veterans from new regions reinforce expectations of a supermajority. Scenarios that could alter this include major unforeseen disruptions such as economic shocks or legal challenges shortly before voting, though the controlled candidate field and multi-day voting format limit such risks.
