Chargers hold the edge in the season series due to a stronger overall roster and coaching stability under Jim Harbaugh with new offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel, contrasted against the Raiders' rebuilding phase featuring rookie quarterback Fernando Mendoza and new head coach Klint Kubiak. Previews project the Chargers for roughly nine or ten wins while placing Las Vegas closer to five or six, supporting higher implied probability for Los Angeles to take both matchups in Weeks 2 and 14. Recent preseason developments include ankle concerns for Raiders running back Ashton Jeanty and the season-ending knee injury to Chargers center Tyler Biadasz, though neither alters the broader talent gap. Trader consensus reflects the competitive but lopsided matchup typical of an AFC West divisional pairing where the stronger side rarely sweeps yet rarely loses outright.
