Les Républicains currently hold roughly 130 Senate seats ahead of the September 27, 2026, renewal of 178 indirect seats by departmental grand électeurs. Recent March 2026 municipal results reinforced their rural and departmental strongholds, limiting projected net losses to a handful despite modest Rassemblement National gains in targeted southern departments. The indirect electoral college structure and stable local alliances have produced no decisive national shifts in recent months, keeping trader consensus clustered around 121–128 total seats. Outcomes in competitive departments and any late realignments among centrist or independent electors remain the main variables that could separate the leading ranges before October resolution.
