Parliamentary elections to elect the Parliament of the Cook Islands are scheduled to take place on August 12, 2026. This market will resolve according to the candidate who wins the constituency of Ngatangiia in the 2026 Cook Islands parliamentary elections. If the election results are not known definitively by July 31, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to "Other". This market will resolve based on the results of the specified election, as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. In the case of ambiguity, this market will resolve solely based on the results as reported by the Cook Islands government.**Tukaka Ama holds a commanding lead in the Ngatangiia constituency race after the 12 August 2026 Cook Islands general election.** As the incumbent Cook Islands Party MP first elected in 2022, Ama captured a narrow preliminary plurality of 229 votes (43.8%) against Mapi Ioteva of the Cook Islands United Party (216 votes, 41.3%), with the remaining candidates trailing far behind. The governing CIP’s overall performance, framed by analysts as a voter preference for stability ahead of a potential fifth term, underpins trader confidence in Ama’s re-election. However, several hundred declaration and postal ballots remain uncounted, and reports highlight Ngatangiia among the tightest races where final tallies, special votes, or post-election petitions could still shift the outcome before Parliament is seated. Market pricing reflects the low probability of reversal once all ballots are tallied.
