The crowded field of over two dozen candidates for Chiclayo's October 2026 municipal election keeps the contest fragmented, with traders assigning Edwin Gonzalo Vásquez Sánchez the highest implied probability due to his recent tenure as district mayor in La Victoria, Alianza para el Progreso affiliation, and consistent polling leads. Agustín Villarreal Granados and Duber Alberto Fernández Silva follow closely on party support and local visibility, while lower-ranked contenders like Elber Requejo Sánchez and others split remaining preferences amid typical Peruvian local dynamics of weak party structures and voter focus on infrastructure, security, and services. Ongoing campaign tours and fresh poll releases could consolidate backing for leaders or shift momentum before the vote.
