This market will resolve to “Yes” if any sitting Member of Parliament (MP) in the Australian House of Representatives announces that he or she will join Pauline Hanson’s One Nation between market creation and December 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to “No”. An announcement that the individual will transition from independent status or another political party to One Nation will qualify only if the individual is a sitting MP in the Australian House of Representatives at the time of the announcement. This market will resolve based on a qualifying announcement made within the specified timeframe. Once such an announcement is made, whether or when the individual subsequently joins One Nation will not affect the market’s resolution. The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from the relevant MP or their official representatives; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.**Recent high-profile defections, One Nation’s polling surge, and ongoing interest from disaffected Coalition figures have driven the 73% implied probability for another sitting MP joining the party before the end of 2026.** Barnaby Joyce’s December 2025 switch from the Nationals to One Nation while retaining his New England seat established a precedent for mid-term realignments. This was followed by the party’s May 2026 Farrer by-election win with David Farley and reports of additional figures, including former Liberal senator Hollie Hughes and others expressing interest or formally aligning. One Nation’s primary vote has climbed sharply in 2026 polls (often 23–30%), fueled by voter shifts on issues such as immigration and energy policy, while the Coalition has faced internal strains and membership losses. These developments—coupled with specific mentions of state MPs like Ben Dawkins exploring options—have reinforced trader expectations of further switches among sitting members amid the party’s expanding parliamentary presence and crossbench influence. The market reflects the observed pattern of defections and the structural incentives created by One Nation’s momentum heading into late 2026.
