Both teams enter the 2026 NFL season as the clear frontrunners in the AFC South, with the Texans boasting one of the league’s top defenses anchored by Will Anderson Jr., Azeez Al-Shaair, and Derek Stingley Jr., while the Jaguars built on their prior 13-win campaign behind an improved Trevor Lawrence and coach Liam Coen. Projected win totals sit nearly identical in the 9–10 range for each club, and their two regular-season meetings—one in London during Week 6 and the return matchup in Houston during Week 15—feature comparable talent levels, home/road splits, and schedule contexts that historically favor splits. Preseason injury concerns have surfaced for several Texans depth pieces, yet the core rosters remain largely intact. Trader consensus therefore centers on a series tie as the likeliest resolution, with modest edges assigned to Houston’s defensive identity over Jacksonville’s recent momentum.
