The unpredictable and low-volume nature of defensive and special teams touchdowns keeps the 2026-27 leader market tightly bunched, with no team exceeding single-digit implied probability. These scores arise from turnovers, punt/kick returns, blocked kicks, and fumble recoveries—events that fluctuate sharply year to year and show little correlation with overall defensive rankings or roster continuity. Preseason roster moves and depth-chart battles have yet to produce a consensus edge, while historical patterns confirm frequent turnover in this category. The elevated share for “Other” reflects the broad distribution of realistic outcomes across the league rather than dominance by any listed contender.
