Princess Faku, the incumbent ANC mayor and regional chair, holds a leading 55.5% implied probability in trader consensus for the upcoming Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality elections, driven by her uncontested re-election as party regional leader in late 2025 and ongoing control of key ANC nomination processes. Other listed candidates, including Ncedo Kumbaca, Nocawe Mafu, Mkhululi Dlevu, and Nqabayomzi Kwankwa, trade at single-digit or nominal levels, reflecting limited visibility from opposition parties such as the EFF and UDM alongside internal ANC interviews held in July. The tight positioning among multiple names stems from unresolved party candidate slates, recent municipal interventions on finances and service delivery, and the proportional representation system that rewards coalition outcomes in the Eastern Cape metro. Upcoming ANC decisions and opposition announcements within the next few months could shift probabilities ahead of the local government polls.
