Princess Faku, the incumbent ANC mayor of Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality since 2023 and recently re-elected as the party's regional chair, holds the leading position in the market at 55.5% ahead of the November 2026 local government elections. Multiple parties are preparing candidates, including potential UDM contender Nqabayomzi Kwankwa and others such as Simphiwe Dzengwa and Ncedo Kumbaca who were linked to ANC nomination processes. Recent developments include voter registration campaigns, mayoral committee adjustments focused on service delivery and finances, and internal ANC dynamics that have solidified Faku's regional standing while leaving room for opposition challenges. The broad field of outcomes priced near 50% and several lower-probability names reflect the competitive multi-party contest and uncertainty over final nominations and voter turnout in this Eastern Cape metro.
