This dynamic reflects the high name recognition of the two leading candidates—Parrish, who won the 2024 by-election, and Crombie, who held the office for a decade—against a crowded field that includes sitting councillors Dipika Damerla and Alvin Tedjo. A mid-August survey highlighted voter dissatisfaction with the city’s direction alongside limited separation among lower-polling contenders. Recent public exchanges between Parrish and Crombie, combined with the close of nominations on August 21, have sharpened focus on experience and local priorities without yet shifting broad support. Further polling, candidate debates, or shifts in undecided voters could widen the gap before election day.
