Les Républicains currently hold 130 Senate seats ahead of the September 27 indirect election renewing 178 of 348 total. Trader consensus clusters around 121-128 seats because the March 2026 municipal results produced mixed shifts among the grands électeurs who select senators, with limited net gains or losses expected in LR strongholds. Competition from the Union Centriste, lingering RN advances in some departments, and alliance patterns in key regions keep outcomes tightly balanced. Historical patterns of Senate stability and the absence of major late-breaking local developments sustain the narrow spreads between adjacent ranges, with any notable separation likely tied to final candidate lists or turnout among municipal delegates.
