Chen Su-yueh holds a strong lead in the Changhua County Magistrate race due to recent polling showing her ahead of KMT nominee Wei Ping-cheng by roughly 17 points, combined with persistent KMT internal divisions. Wei’s nomination bypassed a primary and drew criticism from party figures, including former magistrate Cho Po-yuan, who urged a new poll and noted limited campaign resources. Incumbent KMT magistrate Wang Hui-mei has remained largely absent from Wei’s events and has appeared alongside DPP figures, complicating efforts to consolidate pan-blue support. Independent candidate Chiu Chien-fu’s entry has further fragmented the field without mounting a serious challenge. These dynamics have produced the current trader consensus reflected in market pricing.
