The early 2026–27 SuperSport HNL campaign has featured a wide-open contest for second place behind runaway title favorite Dinamo Zagreb, whose 80% modeled probability of repeating as champion leaves the runner-up market highly competitive. After four rounds, Osijek, Varaždin, Hajduk Split, and Rijeka occupy the top positions alongside the leaders, with recent results including Hajduk’s 4-0 win over Osijek and strong starts from Varaždin and Osijek keeping multiple sides in contention. European commitments for Hajduk and Rijeka, combined with Dinamo’s European schedule, have created fixture congestion and uncertainty. Models and early standings show no dominant candidate for second, as mid-table sides like Istra 1961, Lokomotiva, and even lower-ranked clubs such as Slaven Belupo and Gorica retain realistic paths depending on consistency, injuries, and the long 36-match schedule. Trader pricing reflects this parity, with implied probabilities clustered tightly across the field.
