These reports cite incidents including an explosive-laden drone discovered at Germany's Leipzig airport on August 7 and additional drone sightings over a military base near Mechernich days later, alongside suspected assassination plots targeting defense contractors supplying Ukraine. Such actions align with Russia's pattern of probing NATO responses through airspace violations, missile overflights into Poland, and sabotage attempts, while Moscow rebuilds military capacity despite heavy losses. NATO members continue bolstering eastern flank defenses and Article 5 commitments, with assessments noting any conventional invasion remains low-probability due to collective defense risks and Russia's ongoing resource drain in Ukraine.
