Porto’s perfect start as defending champions under Francesco Farioli, bolstered by squad stability and reinforcements like André Silva, contrasts with Sporting CP’s ongoing rebuild after key departures and Benfica’s integration of attackers such as Jhon Durán amid managerial transition. Mid-table sides like Rio Ave and Vitória benefit from consistent recent form, defensive organization, and lighter European schedules that preserve squad freshness over a 34-match campaign, while historical patterns show frequent shifts in the European qualification spots driven by injuries, transfers, and head-to-head results among the top eight.
