Many top contenders for the 2026 NCAA passing yards lead enter the season with comparable profiles after major transfer portal moves and roster turnover. Drew Mestemaker, Darian Mensah, Trinidad Chambliss, Jayden Maiava, and others posted 3,600-plus yards in 2025 while operating in pass-friendly schemes or with strong supporting casts; several have joined new programs (Oklahoma State, Miami, LSU, USC) that project similar or greater volume. LaNorris Sellers, Arch Manning, Julian Sayin, and Gunner Stockton benefit from high-powered offenses and favorable early schedules, yet injury recovery, competition for targets, and defensive adjustments keep outcomes uncertain. The bunched trader prices reflect this parity, with no single quarterback holding a decisive edge in projected attempts or efficiency entering Week 0.
