Denny Hamlin holds the top seed entering the 2026 NASCAR Cup Series Chase after claiming the regular-season points lead following the Sonoma race and extending his advantage to 77 points over Ryan Blaney with a seventh-place finish at New Hampshire. Trader consensus reflects this positioning, with Hamlin at 37.5% implied probability while Blaney sits at 14% amid his recent victory and consistent top finishes. The field remains tightly bunched because the 10-race playoff format resets points among the 16 qualifiers, amplifying the impact of recent momentum, road-course strength from drivers like Shane van Gisbergen and Christopher Bell, and the potential for upsets on superspeedways or restrictor-plate tracks. Top-10 contenders such as Tyler Reddick, Ty Gibbs, and Chase Briscoe retain realistic paths through strong season-long results, while lower-probability drivers face steeper barriers unless they deliver multiple playoff wins.
