The 2026–27 Ligue 1 campaign has just begun, with positions 5 and 6 typically earning direct UEFA Europa League league-phase spots, subject to Coupe de France cascade rules that can shift the seventh-placed side into contention. A tightly bunched group including Marseille, Lyon, Lens, Lille, Monaco, and Rennes is projected to battle within a handful of points for those berths, driven by squad depth after summer transfers, opening-match results, and fixture congestion from European qualifiers. Early form, home/away splits, and any mid-season injuries or suspensions will shape the race, while PSG’s dominance higher up the table leaves the European chase wide open for the chasing pack. Trader consensus reflects this competitive landscape rather than any single frontrunner.
