In the 2026/27 Ligue 1 campaign, the fifth- and sixth-placed sides earn direct entry to the UEFA Europa League league phase, following the allocation set by France’s UEFA coefficient and the prior season’s results where Olympique de Marseille and Stade Rennais secured those berths. After matchday 1, Marseille sits atop the table following a 4-0 win, while Monaco, Lyon, and Lens have also posted victories that position them well for a sustained push. European commitments for Paris Saint-Germain, RC Lens, and LOSC Lille in the Champions League create fixture congestion that could open pathways for clubs with deeper squads and fewer midweek fixtures. Key variables include injury updates to pivotal attackers and midfielders, home/away form splits, and the impact of any late-summer transfers on squad depth through the winter schedule.
