Early results after five rounds of the 2026 Apertura have created a tightly bunched group behind leader Club América, with Atlas on 12 points and Chivas, Toluca, Puebla, and Tijuana level on 10 as of late August. Chivas delivered a statement 5-2 home win over Tijuana while Monterrey dropped a 0-2 result to León and Cruz Azul fell 0-2 to Atlas, keeping momentum fluid among traditional contenders. Multiple clubs carry strong historical pedigree, deep rosters, and favorable upcoming schedules that support their implied probabilities in the 10-12% range for second place. Minor injury concerns for sides such as América and Cruz Azul have not yet shifted the balance decisively, leaving the race for runner-up highly contested through the regular phase.

In the event of a tie, this market will resolve to the team officially recognized by Liga MX as finishing in second place in the Apertura final phase. If multiple teams are officially awarded second place, the market will resolve to the team whose listed name comes first alphabetically.
If at any point it becomes impossible for the listed club to finish 2nd in the 2026 Liga MX Apertura competition (e.g. they are mathematically unable to achieve enough points), the market will resolve to "No".
If the 2026 Liga MX Apertura is cancelled, postponed after December 27, 2026, 11:59 PM ET, or there is otherwise no 2nd place team declared within that timeframe, this market will resolve to "Other".
The primary resolution source will be official information from Liga MX. A consensus of credible reporting may also be used.
