The 2026-27 J1 League campaign opened in early August under the new fall-spring calendar, leaving early defensive trends fluid after just a handful of matchweeks. Multiple clubs enter with comparable backline organization, experienced goalkeepers, and recent form that supports similar clean-sheet projections, producing the tight clustering around 43-48.5% implied probabilities. Historical patterns of league-wide parity, summer roster adjustments, and the absence of any dominant defensive outlier further compress expectations. Factors such as home/away splits, set-piece vulnerability, and mid-season fatigue will likely decide the final tally among Tokyo Verdy, Nagoya Grampus, FC Tokyo, Urawa Red Diamonds, and the group immediately behind them.
