This market will resolve to “Yes” if Claudia Sheinbaum ceases to be President of Mexico for any period of time between market creation and the specified date (ET). Otherwise, this market will resolve to “No”. An announcement of Claudia Sheinbaum's resignation/removal before this market's end date will immediately resolve this market to "Yes", regardless of when the announced resignation/removal goes into effect. The resolution source for this market will be official information from Claudia Sheinbaum and the government of Mexico; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.**Claudia Sheinbaum maintains strong public support nearly two years into her six-year term, with recent national polls showing approval ratings of 71-72% as of mid-to-late August 2026.** Multiple surveys, including those from TResearch and MetricsMx, reflect stability after earlier fluctuations, while Pew data from earlier in the year indicated favorable views around 64%. This backing stems from continued emphasis on social programs, security metrics showing homicide declines, cooling inflation, and assertive handling of U.S. relations amid trade negotiations and cartel-related pressures. No verified developments point to resignation, impeachment proceedings, or other removal mechanisms. Recent tensions involving a Morena-affiliated governor facing U.S. drug charges highlighted internal party frictions but prompted Sheinbaum to publicly distance herself without broader fallout affecting her position. Constitutional barriers remain high: early exit would require specific legislative action, voluntary resignation, or extraordinary circumstances, none of which appear imminent given her party's congressional strength and base loyalty. Traders assessing low probabilities for an early departure focus on the absence of acute crises, sustained polling resilience despite polarization on issues like security and corruption, and the structural protections of Mexico's presidential system. Upcoming factors such as ongoing U.S.-Mexico trade talks or any escalation in state-level scandals could test sentiment but have not yet shifted the consensus on institutional continuity through the current term.
