Barcelona claimed the 2025-26 La Liga title by eight points over Real Madrid, establishing clear dominance that carries into 2026-27. Entering the new campaign, Barcelona reinforced their squad with the high-profile signing of Rodri, sustaining their status as title favorites. Real Madrid responded with a major rebuild under José Mourinho, including record spending on arrivals such as Diomande, Cucurella, and Dumfries plus free-agent additions, positioning them as the primary challengers. This dynamic drives trader consensus that Madrid will finish second, while Barcelona retains a meaningful chance at runner-up if the title race tightens. Mid-table sides like Villarreal, Atlético Madrid, and Betis trail due to larger gaps in squad depth and recent results, and promoted clubs such as Deportivo La Coruña and Racing Santander face steep adaptation hurdles against established competition.
